Drill Restoration

I have a battery powered drill, and it's fantastic; however, I am a little worried about the longevity of the batteries, and sometimes you just need the oomph of power right from the wall. I also got some gauges for my ears that flare out on both sides, and I get them in my ears, and I wanted to use my drill as a kind of lathe. The battery one worked for it, but I worried that the stress of running the drill for 5-10 minutes straight might damage the batteries. [1] So, I decided I needed an old electric, and I got one from Urban Ore for $5.

It still works, but needs some TLC; the power cable needs to be replaced, as the external rubber shielding is completely disintegrating, and the gears sound like they needed fresh lubricant.

Grease for electric drill gearbox? - vintagesleds.com
I got some Red'n'Tacky-type grease from a nearby national hardware store chain and some lithium grease. Disassembly was easy; I donned some gloves, lathered the gears I could see, and now it sounds great!

Now I just need to replace the power cable...
