I definitely still enjoyed this book, and in many ways you can watch Mr. Anthony growing as a writer. He leans less on characters being rude to each other for the sake of being rude, the characters are growing in depth and he spends a lot of time with their emotional states and relationships. I feel he does still fall into the trap of padding length by repeating what characters are saying, and while I find it annoying sometimes, it can be an interesting mechanic to have the characters interrupt their own internal narration with internal dialogue.
Aryn never really spoke to me as a character (unlike Grace or Lirith), and I find scenes from her perspective tend to drag, but I love the changes to Travis, and am generally very happy with how the other characters grow.
